Your health and well-being are important to us. We have relationships with physicians and clinics in Asuncion and quality healthcare is available, should the need arise.
Vaccinations
No vaccinations are required for our standard itineraries to Paraguay, Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay. However, each individual should make decisions about vaccinations based on where you will travel, current vaccination record, personal medical history, and your preferences. Recognizing these decisions are personal, we do not provide medical or vaccination advice. Travelers are encouraged to consult with a medical professional to discuss the advisability of receiving certain vaccines.
Health information for travelers to South America is available from the Center for Disease Control (CDC), including recommended vaccines for visitors to South America and what to do to stay healthy during your travels.
Prescription medications
Take an ample supply of your medications with you and your doctor's prescription for each, in case you need refills.
Sunburn
The sun can be intense; to protect against sunburn use High Protection Factor (HPF) sunscreen.
Food and drink
In any of our hotels and restaurants, you can confidently eat and drink anything they serve. Fresh fruits and vegetables are safe to eat. Tap water is considered drinkable, however we recommend drinking bottled water. Avoid food from street vendors.
Preventing mosquito bites
We will make every attempt to avoid being outside when there is a high concentration of mosquitos - for your comfort, as well as your health!
Cases of dengue fever, spread through the bites of infected mosquitoes, have been rising in several areas of South America and no vaccine is available to prevent dengue. Travelers can reduce their risk of getting dengue fever by protecting themselves from mosquito bites: stay in hotels or resorts that are well screened or air conditioned or sleep under a net; use insect repellent on uncovered skin; wear loose, long-sleeved shirts and long pants when outdoors.
If you return from a trip abroad and get sick with a fever, you should seek medical care and tell the doctor or other health care provider about your recent travel.
