Day 4 (Fri, Oct 17) - Jesuit Museums & Towns
Begin the day with a visit to the Jesuit Museum in Santa María, housed in one of the original casas de los indios. The museum offers a glimpse into daily life during the Jesuit era and the lasting influence of the missions.
Next, explore a wildlife refuge—a 100-hectare property dedicated to the breeding, reproduction, and conservation of native species, with a special focus on those threatened with extinction.
Continue on to San Cosme y Damián, a Jesuit reduction unique for having remained active after the Jesuits’ expulsion. Its original church has been carefully renovated and is still in use by the local community.
Adjacent to the church, the Center for Astronomical and Planetary Interpretation features engaging presentations by local guides on the astronomical research of Jesuit priest Father Suárez, constellations of the southern hemisphere, and the Guaraní interpretations of the stars.

Stroll the Upper Circuit, an accessible 1.2 km trail through the jungle with panoramic views from several observation points.
Descend the Lower Circuit, which includes many stairs and offers close-up views of the falls and access to the river.

Home to over 900 birds from 150 species, many fly freely in large aviaries designed to replicate their natural subtropical forest habitat. In addition to its appeal as a visitor site, the park plays a key role in Atlantic Forest bird conservation.
Then visit the Brazilian side of Iguazú Falls. This side offers sweeping panoramic views of one of the most spectacular waterfall systems in the world—275 cascades spanning 1.2 km. Follow a walkway with multiple observation points, culminating in a platform at the base of the powerful Devil’s Throat.
After lunch at the national park, tour the Itaipu Dam, the world’s largest hydroelectric power plant and a modern engineering marvel. Guided visits offer insights into its construction, power generation, environmental impact, and sustainability efforts.
In the afternoon, cross the border into Paraguay.

Day 8 (Tues, Oct 21) - Popular Culture & Artisan Appreciation
Today, we’ll continue exploring the Golden Circuit with an immersive cultural experience focused on Paraguay’s rich tradition of artisan crafts passed down through generations.
Folk art is one of the most meaningful expressions of Paraguayan culture. As our guest, you’ll enjoy a rare opportunity to visit several artisans in their home workshops—including a mask-maker, a ñandutí lace weaver, and a traditional poncho weaver. You’ll even have the chance to paint your own souvenir mask while soaking in the relaxed atmosphere of the countryside.
Travelers often tell us that the personal interactions with artisans and their families are a highlight of their visit—an experience you won’t find in any guidebook.
(While you are welcome to make purchases directly from the artisans, this is not a shopping trip. You are under no obligation to buy anything and the artisans are compensated for their time and demonstrations.)

Day 9 (Wed, Oct 22) - Nature Exploration by Boat
The Paraguay River divides the humid Chaco from the wetlands and grasslands east of Asunción. As we cross, you’ll notice distinct changes in vegetation and birdlife.
We’ll have lunch at a working cattle ranch where the next generation is embracing sustainable tourism to help protect the ecosystem from further deforestation. In the afternoon, enjoy a relaxing boat ride to observe life along the river, with opportunities for birdwatching and wildlife viewing.
